Fighting critters.

Starter prompt

This is Critter Quest, a tiny monster-catching RPG that runs entirely in the browser (no stored data), with original pixel critters and chiptune music. Make it public and its link plays inside X posts as a 480x480 game. Help me make it mine. Ask me what I'd like to change, for example: - the game's name, region name (Mossvale) and the boss trainer (Warden Rowan) - the critters: names, types, colors, moves (see SPECIES and MOVES in the ui source) - the map layout (the MAP array: # trees, ~ water, , tall grass, p path, T/t tents, W boss) - difficulty: wild levels, boss team, catch rates - the music (TRACKS in the Music block) or the color palette Read the source with get_app_source first, then make edits with update_app. Keep every critter and name original (no characters from existing games), keep the 480x480 layout, and keep sound starting only after the player taps Start.

Pick a partner critter, explore Mossvale, and catch wild critters hiding in the tall grass. Then take on Warden Rowan for the title.

What's inside

  • 8 original critters across Ember, Tide, Sprout and Normal types, with a rock-paper-scissors type chart
  • Turn-based battles with leveling, new moves, crits and catch orbs
  • A scrolling overworld with tents to heal, a boss trainer and a rematch
  • Original 8-bit soundtrack: overworld, wild battle, boss theme and victory fanfare, plus sound effects and a mute button
  • Keyboard (arrows/WASD + Z/Enter) and tap controls

Plays in X posts. Make your copy public and post the link. X shows the game itself in a 480x480 player card instead of a preview image.

Make it yours. Ask your agent to rename the critters, redraw the map, change the boss team or remix the music. It all lives in one readable source file.
