Starter prompt

This is Recipe Tin, a recipe library where every recipe follows four sections: Before you start, Ingredients, Mise en place, and Steps. First, ask me whether I cook in metric or imperial and how many people I usually cook for, then call updateSettings. Then ask me for recipes to add: links, photos of recipe cards, or dishes I describe. For each one, read the source and call addRecipe with all four sections complete: - beforeYouStart: anything to do ahead (marinating, soaking, preheating, resting), equipment, and allergens. - ingredients: the shopping name as item, how it's cut as prep, an aisle, and staple: true for pantry staples like oil and salt. - miseEnPlace: prep jobs that reference the ingredient ids they use. - steps: short steps with their ingredientIds, and a timer or temperature where one applies. Keep the source link and don't add details the source doesn't support. If the recipe has a photo I'm allowed to use, resize it to under 400 KB and call setRecipePhoto. If I also copied HelloFridge (https://charm.ing/lachieh/hellofridge) into this account, it plans the week's dinners from these recipes.

Recipe Tin is a recipe library built for the kitchen, not for browsing. Every recipe is filed in the same four sections, in the order you need them:

  1. Before you start. Overnight marinades, preheating, resting times, equipment and allergens. The things that catch you out if you find them halfway through.
  2. Ingredients. Amount, item and how it's cut, grouped by part of the dish. Change the servings and every quantity rescales.
  3. Mise en place. The prep jobs, as a list you tick off before the heat goes on.
  4. Steps. One at a time, each listing the ingredients it uses, with timers, temperatures, tips and warnings where they apply.

A recipe missing any section is turned away, so every card in the tin is one you can cook from.

Cook from your phone

Start cooking opens kitchen mode: confirm the before-you-start notes, tick off your mise en place, then work through large step cards with tap-to-start timers. The screen stays awake while you cook, where the browser allows it.

Keep what you learn

Log each time you cook a recipe, leave notes on the recipe or on a single step, and rate it. Notes on a step show up on that step next time. Every edit keeps the previous version, so you can look back or restore one.

Works with your agent

Ask your agent to add a recipe from a link or a photo of a recipe card, and it files it in the four-section format with the source link kept. Agents can list and search recipes, read the ingredients, prep or steps (all of them or one step), edit recipes, add notes and reviews, and log cooks.
