Gift-givers see what's taken, never who took it.
Starter prompt
This is my copy of Gift Wishlist, a spoiler-free gift list. Gift-givers who open an item are asked whether they bought it, and other givers see what's taken, while I never see who bought what. Set it up for me: 1. Call claimList with my name and a list title (ask me for both) so the list is mine. 2. Ask for my Amazon wishlist's share link. Open it in a browser, scroll until every item has loaded, and collect each item's title, product link, current price, image URL, and any comment I left. Call importItems with { "items": [{ "title", "url", "price", "imageUrl", "notes" }] }. Re-running later refreshes prices without duplicates. 3. Remind me to set the App's access to "Everyone can view, logged-in people can edit" before I share it. This app works with the Secret Santa template (https://charm.ing/lachieh/secret-santa): if I'm in a Secret Santa, I can paste this list's link into my Secret Santa wishes so my Santa shops from it and nobody else buys the same thing.
The problem
You share your Amazon wishlist. Someone clicks an item, buys it, and never marks it as bought. Christmas morning, you open the same gift twice.
How it works
- Import your Amazon list. Paste its share link and your agent reads every item into the app: title, price, image, and your notes. Run it again later to refresh prices without duplicates.
- Clicking means checking in. When a gift-giver opens an item's store page, the app records that they're looking. When they come back, it asks: did you buy it?
- No dodging the question. Anyone who opened an item and didn't answer is asked again before they can browse the list on their next visit.
- Givers see each other, never who. Items show Someone's looking or Already bought to other givers, so they pick something else.
- Spoiler-free for you. The list owner sees items only. Who looked at or bought what never leaves the server for you, the app's own API included.
Works with Secret Santa
Copy the Secret Santa template too, and paste your wishlist's link into your Secret Santa wishes. Your Santa shops from your list, and anyone else buying you a gift sees it's taken.
Sharing it
Set the App to Everyone can view, logged-in people can edit. Gift-givers browse without an account and sign in when they're ready to shop.
